During our termly Art Week, the whole school looked at the very surreal work of Salvador Dali. In year 5, we imagined that his paintings were actually of alien planets. We then worked collaboratively to write superb diary entries as if we had crash-landed there. Our writing was packed full of creative and descriptive language.
We decided to take inspiration from Dali's artwork to create our own aliens. We used a mixture of oil pastels and water colours to create some stunning artwork.
Our fabulous artwork was displayed, along with the rest of the school's brilliant work, in an exhibition for our parents and careers to enjoy.
A Few weeks ago, some Year 5 boys had the opportunity to attend a rugby afternoon at Sirius North Academy. They worked on Rugby skills and then had a game of Tag Rugby. We all had great fun.
Last week some of the Year 5s had the opportunity to go to the Hull docks and boarded one of the P & O ferries. We had a tour round the ferry, also we looked around the pump house (learnt lots of interesting stories).
We had another fantastic visit to the Hull City Academy, which was organised by Sirius Academy North. It was a very cold day but well worth it...especially when the manager of Hull City's first team, Nigel Adkins, held an impromptu question and answer session with the children. What a great surprise!
Last week year 5 children attended Sirius North Academy for a Creative Arts day. The day consisted of sculpturing a pinch pot fish using clay, learning a dance routine, creating music to represent a different historical events (linked to Hull) and creating a spooky drama piece. The children had a fantastic time.
