Swimmers crowned 1st place and Endike claim overall 3rd place at DRET Summer Cup 2016!

Children from Year 5 & 6 attended the DRET Summer Cup yesterday at Grantham Meres to compete with over 15 other DRET academies for the David Ross Foundation Trophy.
Pupils competed in a number of events including hockey, indoor athletics and swimming. Many famous athletes from the world of sport were on hand to give advice, answer questions, sign autographs and have photographs taken with children (and staff!).

Our athletes worked extremely hard in the sports hall and were able to assist with the total points tally.

Our hockey players showed great team spirit and managed to get through to the quarter finals.

In the pool, the swimmers performed excellently and were crowned FIRST PLACE across all the DRET primary academies.
They were handed their trophy by two time Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington!

Our combined points tally for the swimming, hockey and athletics gave us our highest ever finish of 3rd place!
All the staff involved would like to say a huge well done to the children who took part. We are extremely proud of Team Endike!

Art Week - 23.5.16

This week was Art Week at Endike and this time our focus artist was Van Gough.

Year 5 looked at his painting 'Starry Night' and recreated their own versions.

What do you think?

He is the music man, he comes from far away... (well, Bridlington!)

Year 5 were really lucky to have a visit from Mr Wilson who teaches music at Quay Academy today. In separate workshops, he composed pieces of music with the classes which they then performed in an assembly at the end of the day.

Happy 90th Birthday Queen Elizabeth!

The Year 5 children were lucky enough to be invited to the Foundation Stage Royal Ascott celebrations this afternoon.

Even the teachers got involved and had a race. Although there was definitely some cheating going on!!

Spring Term Flexible Friday comes to an end

If anyone had walked into a classroom at Endike the last three Friday afternoons, they would be forgiven for being a little confused! Instead of the usual year group classes, they would have found mixed groups in each room/area, made up of children from Foundation Stage right up to Year 6! This is because we have been taking part in a project called 'Flexible Friday'.

Over to you to explain more about what Flexible Friday was...

Comment below with what activity you did, your feelings about it, and what you might like to do next time.

DRET Winter Cup 2016

Endike once again took part in the DRET Winter Cup today, with a football team and a netball team taking part in opening and closing ceremonies and festivals of the two sports. There were VIP guests who signed autographs for the children.

A great day was had by all! Many thanks to all at DRET for organising the day.

A huge well done to the children who took part on representing Endike fantastically.

Sing me a saga...

Phase 4 were lucky enough to go and watch the Phase 3 production today, titled 'The Viking Sagas'.

We were all very impressed with all the wonderful acting, dancing, singing and instrument playing!

Well done to all the children in Years 3 & 4, along with all the staff for their hard work.

Air resistance is a total drag!

On Wednesday afternoon, the Year 5 classes took part in a Science experiment looking at gravity and air resistance. We wanted to find out what size parachute would fall the fastest.

We will be writing our experiment up next week.
